I must say this site is very informative and very interesting.I have read some of the transmission posts but i havent gotten a concrete answer.I am from jamaica i currently have a toyota trueno ae110(like a levin) not sure if u are familiar with it.Anyway i have a 3sgte engine from the caldina for my swap and i am a person who prfers bottom to midrange power not so much top end.I have heard conflicting stories that the e153 (3sgte) is best for top end however there was someone in the caribbean who used the v6 camry (e56)transmission he said he didnt like it as the ratios were too short and he made his power in fourth gear.Others in jamaica have done the swap but i cant get a hold of anyone to ask about best transmission.I am wondering since many of you have done this swap which would be a better gearbox for drag racing(please give the code tranny and from which car)As i say i prefer a very quick car not so much high speed plus jamaica is full of mountains and corners so not much highway runs.Which gearbox is best for this

No that's the easiest option. The best option would be the one from the Celica SSIII Beams 3S-GE - already has LSD and the gearing is supposed to rock. Plus you would not need a hybrid clutch setup since both the motor and the tranny are for 3s as opposed to the 5S tranny which will need a combination 5S-3S clutch setup. However many of the good brands do offer that setup.

Really i didnt know that i asked someone wen i was buying the clutch if i should buy for the engine i have cause i didnt get a transmission with the engine. So altho both were from a 3s engine the celica gt gearbox will not bolt up jus like that without that hybrid clutch u speak of
