I finally bought a compression tester the other day, and got results for all four cylinders. Cylinders 1-4 all check out very consistent and even all the way across, maintaining around 180-185psi after several cranks of the piston reaching TDC. My battery isn't the greatest so it may not have been cranking at enogh RPM's to see proper results.

For reference, I wanted to get a little compression comparison going on so that I can get an idea of what people with healthy 5S's are running. I'm doing these checks to determine whether or not to lightly boost what I already have or to go for a newer 5SFE before the project begins.

Post up figures if you have them, otherwise let me know what you think of mine and what route I should take with the motor.

Nope, '97+ 5SFE's used a metal headgasket stock from Toyota. Pre '97 weren't however...we'll see what the situation is with the engine.

My intention is if my motor isn't in superb shape, then I'll hunt down a low mileage motor thats ready to take on some boost. I may do it anyway, even though my motor seems to run beautifully.
