Ok, I have a 91 Alltrac, and i want to do an engine swap to it cuase its not running and it seems like it would just be cheaper to drop another engine in. However, all i can find are JDM engines for sale. I live in California, so i can't get a JDM engine legalized here since it wont pass the visual testing due to no EGR. But is it possible to take the head and intake manifold off of a USDM 3sgte and attach it to a JDM block, and have everything work the same? Cuase i just cannot find a USDM engine anywhere. Well actually, i just bought another one, but it doesn work. kindasad.gif . So now i have Two 3sgte's that dont work. Bleh on my parade.

yes, you can bolt a usdm head on a jdm block, or vice versa.
but, isnt the law in CA that the engine has to be from the same year or newer as your car?

and yeah thats the law here i believe. The engine cannot be older than the car. So there's really no way that i can "legaly" swap the engine out on my 96 even if it had EGR. Well i would have to get the 3rd gen 3sgte or newer, but thats expsensive and didnt come with EGR...hmm... would a 2nd gen head fit on a 3rd gen.... hm...
