So I decided to build a sub box out of fiberglass because the trunk is too small for pre-made boxes. I'm only 60% done it but I thought I'd post some pics of my progess. After countless hours of labour and a trip to the ER for getting resin in my eye (lol.. the one time I don't wear safety glasses, soo stupid) here's where I'm at:
Here's the frame where everything started The frame wrapped in resin soaked speaker fabric Resin / Fleece layer totally dried .. in the trunk just to see how it looks Inside of the box fiberglassed (pic taken the day after the ER) Body filler aplied to the box .. it was hot out so I couldn't make it smooth .. now i have A LOT of sanding to do More pics to come when I'm done some more.... |

QUOTE(kash1355 @ Jul 25, 2006 - 8:23 PM) can I still do that now? .. should i just screw the brace pieces from the base to the ring (so its jus screwing into wood each time) Well, as long as you cut it so that its a tight fit (But not overly tight that the braces bend it) then rough sand the fibreglass where the braces will go and just glass a layer or 2 over the top of the braces so that they are held in place with fibreglass. You could screw them in but then you'd risk splitting the brace with the screw. I'd fibreglass it. Let me know if you don't get what I'm on about. |
