Auto/manual conversion checklist:

Manual tranny
Flywheel and bolts
Clutch kit (and pressure plate bolts)
Driver's side mount for manual
Shifter assembly
Shifter cables
Clutch pedal assembly
Brake pedal (or grind down your stock one)
Clutch master cylinder
Clutch slave cylinder (if not included with tranny)
Clutch lines
Manual ECU or wire in resistor box for the auto ECU

I just wanted to put this down so that I don't have to retype it every time someone asks me how to do it smile.gif

Feel free to add thoughts and comments.

-Doc

Clutch return spring. You may need a manual starter relay. I didn't use one, but I can start my car w/o the clutch in, I just leave it out of gear when its off as my safety switch.

As for the ECU, it's not needed at all, your OD light just blinks, yank the bulb.

You need tranny mounts too. Auto and manual ones don't line up.

TRD Quickshifter is shorter than stock throws, and it comes WITH A SHIFT ASSEMBLY. So you can save some bucks here and get a nice QS kit.

There's various clips and pins to hold the shift cables in too. I am so stupid and didn't save my list. It was so comprehensive for a GT.

You don't need a manual starter relay, you just need to route the wires that used to go to the Neutral Start Switch to the Clutch Start Switch.

Also for OBDII cars ('96 and up) you are going to need the ECU hack or manual ECU.

As far as I know, only the driver's side mount is needed, is this correct or no?

bringing this up from the dead smile.gif

2 questions...

1 - where are the wires for and/or where is the Neutral Start Switch ? and you would just route them to the clutch start switch (on the pedal) correct ? (or leave cut and don't start the car in gear)

2 - and as for a 96+ conversion...if you just swap from a 1997 A/T ECU to a 1996 M/T ECU (both 7A) will that be fine ? are the pinouts on both ECUs the same (same locations) ? I know there would be some extra wires not being used (for the auto tranny) but are we talking just plug and play here ?

thanks
