Hi there everyone. Recently i have bought new 17inch rims for my celi and i use 225/45/R17 tyre. This weekend a mechanic told me that the tyres size it's not correct and that it's higher than normal. I 've been told that i should use 215/45 tyres otherwise the 225/45 tyre will cause many problems to the car!!! I really don't know what to do since the tyres are almost new and i don't want to replace them. I would appreciate any advise and any information from you guys......

I have this table of recommended sizes:
![]() however, better would be when you choose any tire and you will not sure, just count difference in comparison with stock tire... (I can handle this, so PM me if you will need more help) This post has been edited by malpaso: Aug 7, 2006 - 2:28 AM -------------------- No more replicas... This is evolution... This is SS-four :)

Do you know if the tires i have now may cause any problems to the car? |

Do you know if the tires i have now may cause any problems to the car? so that stock IMO was 205/55 R15. Only "problems" you shoud have are: 1. speedometer will show you incorrect speed because your 225/45 at 17'' are bigger (circumference +4,62 %) than 205/55 at 15''. 2. you may rub rear fender with 225 sometimes (of course depends on rim offset too... only ET 35 or less would do this). 3. fuel consumption will grow a bit (bigger "rolling resistance"). that's all... conclusion: 1. if you don't care you will run 104 km/hr not 100 km/hr, stay calm ![]() 2. if you modyfy your rear fender like this: ![]() you will not have any problems ![]() 3. how much that would be? 0,5 litre/100km? 1 litre? Not sure (you can't count that closely enough)... however IMHO it can't be more than 1 litre... This post has been edited by malpaso: Aug 7, 2006 - 4:13 AM -------------------- No more replicas... But what about the handling of the car? I 've also been told that it might damage my gearbox. Is the correct tire size 215/45/17? And does it matter if it's turbo or N/A? |
