So I was thinking today. Thinking about if and when I get around to upgrading from the stock sound system where I would put the subs. Then I got to pondering on this idea... Swap out the air cylinders that hold the hatch up for a stronger set, reinforce the hatch tray somehow, and mount a sub box to the under side of the hatch tray. This way you can open up the back and your subs would be pointing right out of the back..

Does that make sence? Kind of like how the Axis tC lifts the TV in the back...

Thoughts?

You would probably need high torque linear actuators to lift the lid AND a sub+box.

Doubt you would find any boot strutts powerful enough to hold it all up TBH. My bootlid closes itself if the wind catches my spoiler and both strutts are working correctly.

Just my opinion though, maybe someone will contradict.

Subs work best when they are securely mounted, so I also think it may sound a bit bab being stuck to the lid.
