I just got a low milage engine swapped in...and I was wondering wut octane level I should use....I'm not sure if it's a 5sfe or a 3sfe all I know is it's JDM....and I read that using regular octane levels makes the engine preform better. Is that true?

Hi
![]() Take a look at my profile, if your engine looks exactly like mine, then you have the 3S-GE. If the picture isn't clear enough, take a look at this site Celica Engines - it has both the 3S-GE and 3S-FE. Both engines were available in the celica and the curren. My SSI, SSII, SSIII & GT-FOUR handbook says the SSI should use Regular Unleaded and the SSII, SSIII & GT-FOUR should use Premium Unleaded. However the Octane rating for my 3S-GE is supposed to be 100 Octane (unfortunately in NZ the max we have is 98) - now I would assume your mechanic would have adjusted your engine to run on lower octane, but like the others suggested, a quick phone call to your mechanic might be best, and it might also give you some backup if something goes wrong, because you would've been following the mechanics advice. Good Luck ![]() -------------------- ![]() |
