I'm in the middle of changing out both front axles on my 97GT... the passenger side front is as far as we got tonight - when we took the old axle out there is this little thing called the center bearing bracket you have to take out w/ the axle... my question is- HOW DO YOU GET IT OFF THE OLD AXLE AND ONTO THE NEW ONE!?

You should be able to remove that bracket. Put itll take time and effort.
Penetrating oil, and force preferably equal on both sides. I believe there is a bearing on that bracket so be careful. If my axel wasnt already back on the car Id take closer look at it for any clues as to how to take it off. Best bet, call your local toyota dealer. I think that even thier replacement axels dont come with it. Basically its a way to make more money for the labor charge. Mine really likes me ive dropped around 1k on parts in two weeks and im gonna end up spending more ![]() |
