 Engine revving weird |

Ok so lately my car has been revving weird. Whenim in 3rd-5th and cruising a long at say 2-3k rpms if I hit the gas the rpms jump up to 4-5k as if I had the clutch in, then they drop back down to about 3200 and drive normally. What could be wrong?

I am looking for something more performance and don't have to worry about installation fees as I can get that done for free. Still quite a bit of money though. Thanks
