I was trolling around on another forum and stumbled across a post about poor engine performance and drivability linked to something called a mass air meter. It basically said that the mass air meter gets dirty from the oil that is used on performace air filters like K&N, thus resulting in multiple symptoms such as reduced performace, ect. Anybody have any experence with this? I'm particularily curious because I know its time to clean my air filter up, and as of late my car has had greatly reduced performance and overall weird drivability issues, and lo and behold I have an oiled TRD filter... I would assume our car's mass air meter would be located somewhere along the air cleaner box/intake? And any tips on how to "clean' a mass air meter?

The MAF can actually be adjusted and tuned. Most people don't realize it, but if u open up the black cover thingy on top if it and have a small flat head scredriver handy, you can regulate how much air is calculated going to the ecu. Via making the flaps harder to open or easier to open.
