here is a pic of a toyota 5sfe timing belt with ~100k on it..it came outta itchyb's old 5sfe.
this is the reason toyota recommends doing the timing belt every 60k.

How much does a timing belt change cost (ballpark) on a 7a?

Wow.

Maybe that's the going rate where you are; I have a Toyota Dealership in Milwaukee offer to change mine (5S) for 170 (parts and labor)... I'm sure you'd probably throw in a water pump, though.


Never wish for a timing chain. They can still fail (look at the problems Volkswagen has with their 1.8T). Plus timing chain engines are almost always interference, so when they do go, your engine is essentially done.

$170? I call BS biggrin.gif

But yeah that's everything on the front of the engine, front main seal, water pump, belts, etc. I always recommend getting it all done at one while it's all apart anyway.
