hey guys...finally ready to start getting parts together to turbo my 5sfe, and i have some questions for people who have done this and/or will be doing this:

what are the major pros/cons of going hybrid and using a ge head? (i.e. extra work, hp possibilites, etc)

what type of engine managment system is the best for this situation? (piggyback, standalone?)

what octane requirement would the engine have if i did not advance the timing off base or increase the compression ratio and used a ct26 turbo?

and finally, are there any other little tips/tricks i should know?

please post replies in this thread...i think everyone should know about this.

thanks!

Well if you go with a GE head you need to find yourself a 3S-GTE ECU as a start. It isn't as simple as using a GE head instead of an FE head.

Octane would have to 91+ at a minimum with any setup, higher the better to decrease chance of detonation. As for timing, don't know much about that but compression ratio you would want to lower not increase, since the 5S already has a high compression ratio for a FI application.

If he goes standalone you dont have to worry about getting a 3sgte ecu
