Amsoil 5W30 HD series 3000, Yes, Synthetic is 'worth it' I wont run anything else, and haven't since about 1976...and mileage be damned, if its in good shape, put synthetic in it. I put 170k miles on my last car, 87 Mazda 626lx coupe, ran Amsoil since it was new, changed the oil 1/year, filter every 6 months, lost all the water one night and cracked the head at 162k, when I took it apart, there was NO measurable wear inside, no sludge, no build-up, absolutely no hint of a ridge in the cylinders, bearings looked new, end-gap on the old rings was .003 out of factory spec. (NEW rings from Sealed Power were at .004 outside spec), (New Mazda rings were at .011 gap, exactly mid-point of .008-.014 factory tolerance. Basically NO wear! no telling how far it would have went, my daughter is driving it now, judging from all the new dents, I think the body will go before the motor...
