I was going to get a 1.0 Lightning Audio Farad cap soon because my lights dim real bad when my bass hits and i def. dont want to destroy my alternator..anyway toe point of this topic is..has anyone got one..any ideas? i was going to deal with crutchfield.com because their customer service i think is the best.

how hard is to hook one of these things up? And do i need to get a new alternator if i get a cap..i was under the impression you did after reading another thread in here somewhere

(if this has been topic'ed before my bad, i searched but got no result)

make sure you ground the cap in a seperate ground from the amp. for mine I sanded down the 2 bolt-holes for the read seatbelt buckles ( the part that clicks).

I am running a 1200W system, have a 1.0 digital cap (stinger) and after i had installed my battery my amp crapped out. There wasnt enough power in the amp to keep the alt regulated properly. when it died i had it rebuilt with beefed up internals (rotor/stator). even now, with my 1.0 cap and a 115A alt my light still dim on hard hits.

IMO if you want a good system get a good battery (optima) and a higher output alt. Capacitors are just "band-aids" for high power systems.
