I hear a clunk when I put my Celica in gear and let of the clutch. I just wanna hear if somebody got a quick dianose for this problem. It kinda sounds like when you release the clutch quickly. It happens more often when the car is cold. It can also happen if I let go of the throttle quickly. Could it be bad axels, motor mounts?

My Celi has been doing the exact same thing for over a year now. The clunk happened when releasing the accelerator and also when reapplying it, and was rather violent. I could feel it when it happened. It also did it when I turned right. The deceleration clunk has disappeared, and so has the grinding when turning for the most part. I had it looked at and got several opinions with no sure diagnosis. Some said CV, some said motor mounts, some said tranny (never understood why the tranny would make that sort of noise...). My mounts look fine, I've done several visual inspections and found no signs of metal-on-metal contact. But then again, my brakes and clutch just went out on consecutive days for no reason, so who knows. Back to the shop for the Celi...
