On my way home last night from the mushroomhead concert my check engine light came on. I pulled off the road, checked the oil and checked for any apparent damage to the engine and nothing was wrong. I drove home. This morning i got up and did the check engine thing with the paperclip (thanks how-to articles!) and found out I have error code 27, which just so happens to be the same code that was used in the article.. 2nd O2 Sensor is bad. My problem is I dont have a second o2 sensor anymore, becuase i never hooked it up when i got my headers. Is there a way to reprogram the ecu?

thanks guys

I don't think you can reprogram the ecu so that it will "only" identify one o2 sensor. Since you originally had 2 o2 sensor, i'm guessing you had a California-emissions model. You have two options. Since you probably still have the connector for the o2 sensor for your exhaust manifold, you can extend the wiring of the connector. Then drill a hole big enough to fit a o2 sensor bung somewhere on your exhaust piping (or header) before the cat. converter. And reconnect another o2 sensor so the ecu will identify that there are 2 o2 sensors. Other option, you can get another ecu for your car that is not from a California-emissions model. Reason for this is that the ecu was program to identify just one o2 sensor. I have a 7afe m/t ecu I could sell you if you have an st model. If you have a gt, then you can try asking somebody on this forum or even check ebay for a gt ecu.
