i'm currently working on my trunk
i have 2 amps ( PG tantrum 600.4 & a smaller caliber)
They will be placed in the floor under plexi glass
this will be an "airtight" space so it'll get pretty warm in there
i decided to place cooling fans
2 small ones for the caliber and 4 big ones for the tantrum (+ they look good smile.gif)

these fans should start blowing air as soon as i turn on my radio
therefor i was looking for power on the same fuse as the radio(right??)

on this fuse there's :
the radio, the ignition & the sigarette lighter

i don't smoke so i threw out the sigarette lighter some time ago and used the spot in the dash to place my remote bass control button

and i used the power of the cigarette lighter to power the cooling fans

yesterday i hooked up the 2 small fans
they worked perfectly (i already tested all of em and the all seem to work alright...)

but when i start the car there's a warning light on my dashboard
it's the "problem with the engine's electrical system" light...
i didn't trust this at all so i disconnected the fans and the warning light went out

can anyone tell me if those little fans can be a problem if i hook em up like this or is this warning light simply telling me there's something "not normal" hooked up... cuz there are no noticalble problems... everything seems to work alright... but the warning light is on...

should i get my power elsewhere in the car? if so what spot do you suggest??

thx in advance!

My opinion is this:
I have all sorts of Neon lights and other LED bulbs in my ride. Run a main power supply to the battery. I used the cable for my audio AMPs and spliced it in so the car doesnt have to be on. If you use the cigarette lighter cables the headlights must be on too. Run the main power cable to an inline fuse, like a 30amp fuse. Then run it to a switch, then fell free to connect whatever u want.

I have this same setup on my car and it works great....
