im don't know where to post this but im thinking about getting one for my car. are they legal in the state of california?

yeah, the v1 is a great detector. if you can afford one, go for it. if that's out of the range you were expecting to pay, just get a cheap one. and i mean cheap. the cheapest you can find. there are a few 10-12 band detectors out there for 100-150 bucks, just don't get one of those. there are actually only 3 or 4 bands that police use, and an inexpensive 6 or 7 band detector will cover those.
the biggest thing is pop-up protection. nothing short of a valentine or top of the line passport will offer any coverage for pop, and they only work on the principle that their extended range will detect a car ahead of you getting clocked, and without anyone in front of you...as soon as it's going off you're already done. if you're not going to get a $300 unit, you're not getting any pop protection, and everything is pretty much equal. hence my suggestion that you just get an inexpensive one seeing as a midrange one really won't do anything extra for you. btw, detectors are legal but "frowned upon" in most jurisdictions...scramblers and jammers are not legal, as far as i know. -------------------- do you know who i am, mr. worley? |
