So, I went to the norcal JDM theory meet. I was one of 2 6gcs there, but if anyone goes on any other car forums, particularly evo forums, you'll probably hear about some "dumbass ricer in a celica"
coming off the freeway onramp only a matter of blocks away, I was trying to keep up with the EVO in front of me who was going pretty damn fast. well, somewhere around 60-70 mph on this 35mph offramp my car car lost traction and I started sliding FF drift style. now, all of a sudden the weight transfer throws my car in the total opposite direction, the car jumps over a curb, and according to my friend driving behind me, all four wheels were over a foot of the ground at one point. I flew over the small dirt embankment (a good 3ft drop.) and was now going the wrong way on a one way onramp... lucky for me there were no other cars coming that direction. anyway, I pulled over in a parking lot to examine the damage. honestly, there is some scratches on my front bumper, and the center crossmember is pretty scratched, other than that, no damage. I was EXTREMELY lucky. I was also the laughing stock of the entire show. but I'm alive, and my car is alive. and I think I'm going to start driving more careful now. the end. go ahead. criticize me, I deserve it. -------------------- 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |

QUOTE(Shocker @ Nov 5, 2006 - 8:33 PM) to bad you didnt have a huge ass ricer wing..you would have probably had the down force to hold you down..hehe but I thought the cool grooves in my *unpainted* VIS bullet fenders were for that! yes, I admit my car looks hella rice right now. but, I just got a call tonight that the rest of my bodykit is in, probably picking it up tomorrow, then it'll be off for paint real soon. I'm just so glad that I decided NOT to put my JDM front extensions on before the meet (which I almost did) because they would probably be toast by now... anyway, yeah, my friend driving behind me said I was going 60-70, but now that I really think back, I think I was in second gear at around 5500 RPMs when I lost traction... so probably closer to 40-45 mph. and I really don't know what the speed limit was on that offramp, for all I know it was 25mph, it was fairly sharp. I think the problem was I was still accellerating into the turn. but it's really not that I lost traction that threw me over, it was that after losing traction the car jerks REALLY sharp in the opposite direction afterwards... I dunno if it's cause I try to countersteer or what (I don't really remember what I tried to do) I think I need some FF driving lessons...
