Just brought a Celica SR 1998 (UK Model), already blown the rear speakers! . Just wondering how to take the rear pannel to get to the rear speakers, and fit some more? Also any idea of what size they are, and the front speakers as they sound like they're about to go? Have the 4 speaker system. Pictures would be appreciated on how to get the rear pannel off!
Thanks in advance! Jamie |

Less work to do but less space to work on. This is how I did mine. so I'm guessing most people just make custom brackets? how hard is it to do that? [/quote] If you look at the picture above you can see it's going to be a bitch to cut out of MDF with a jigsaw - but it is doable. That's a stock 6" speaker - a 6.5" speaker will mean trimming away the side ridges of the plastic mounting - and depending on the conse style you might need to trim the inner diameter to fit the new speaker in. Then you have to consider how you can fix the 6.5" speaker to the stock mounting. I guess what you could do is trim the mounting down to be a flat surface then make a mounting ring our of persepx or 3mm MDF to fix to the the stock mounting and then fix the 6.5" speaker to the ring. This then raises the question of the 'paper' ring fitted to the stock speaker which stops the panel vibrating too much. I re-used this on my 6" speakers as the foam ring on the outer edge secures the panel against the speaker. |
