YES I KNOW THIS ISNT A CELICA! but its the same engine/pcm.
so my friend installed a bigger DP (3") and is running it open till he can get the exhaust on. is this fuel cut he's experiencing normal? i didnt know it wouldnt allow ANY boost till the next key cyle! QUOTE I'm pretty sure I hit the fuel cut on my way home from Russ' house tonight. I down shifted and floored it, and about 2 seconds after hitting full boost the car fell on its face and the SES light came on. The car stayed running, and the light went off, but anytime I hit boost at all after that, anything in the postives, the car would cut and the SES light would come on for a second or two. So either the car wont let you boost after you hit the fuel cut, or something else is wrong. But I definitely need to get the exhaust fixed if this is going to be a common problem, lol. QUOTE I hooked up the boost gauge today to see what kind of boost I was hitting. I had to ghetto rig it, which was pretty amusing. I had the vacuum line coming out of the side air intake vent and in through the window of the car
Anyway, it's boosting up to 13psi, but not any higher than that. I'm kind of relieved because I started to think that maybe there could be a problem with the wastegate. I had to manipulate it some when I installed it. Like I said before, once I hit the fuel cut it wont let me boost to even 1 psi before it cuts out again. All I have to do is turn the car off, then back on again and it resets it, but still a problem nonetheless. So, first thing is to get the exhaust fixed. After that, we will see where it goes.
