the point of a crank case filter is to filter out oil vapor from entering back into the intake piping. why it goes into the intake piping is so that it pulls vapors out of the crank case, positive crank case pressure is bad and causes resistance on the internals like the crank, rods, and pistons, the less pressure the better. so pulling air from the crank case quicker will sometime add as much as 30 hp, from what ive seen on larger Turbo v8's.

you can do this by using an electric air pump to suck the air out, or do what i plan to do.
route the crank case ventilation right to the exhaust. the exhaust will actually pull the air out alot quicker and u wont have to worry about the oil vapors or any filters. but im not sure if the added oil vapor in the exhuast might make it hard to pass emissions. i don't plan on passing any test so it doesn't bother me.
