I'm really bored and it's too cold out to work on my cars, so I figured I'd post up some recent SE-R updates and photos.
![]() The SE-R hit 200,000 a couple weeks ago... ![]() The stock SR20DE still runs great and doesn't burn any oil, and fifth gear doesn't pop out on the tranny (common SE-R problem) either. ![]() So to celebrate 200,000 miles, I did some work to the car. I got a new oxygen sensor and new door switch, so my mileage is up to about 30 mpg again and the car now thinks the door is closed when it's actually closed. Yay for no more strobe dome light when I hit the brakes or take left hand turns! ![]() I was working on gathering parts for the Celica, and came across an Accord in the junkyard. I pulled a 22-pin ECU plug for use on the new AE111 ECU, and then remembered a post on SR20Forum about someone using '94-'95 Accord rear extensions on their Classic. So I pulled those as well. I was on my way back to the shop to pay for the parts and head home when I came across a Nissan Altima ('93-'97.) It had the OEM sideskirts on it, which looked like they might fit the Sentra with some work, so I grabbed those as well (not an easy feat when the car's body is sitting on the ground.) The guys at the junkyard were being nice (I think they liked the chalkboardness aspect of the Sentra ![]() ![]() So I got home, got the SE-R up in the air, and went to work. The rear extensions went on easily and required minimal cutting. The sideskirts simply had to be trimmed in the front so that the SE-R doors could open, and then had to be screwed into the bottom of the car. It took me a few hours and two trips to Lowe's, but I got it done, and here's the result: ![]() Side shot, with me. This was the day after I finished I think. The rest of the shots are from tonight. ![]() Much, much better in my opinion. I wish the sideskirts were a bit lower, but I can't complain for $12.50. ![]() ![]() And the front...you can barely see the sideskirts in that pic. Note the ghetto cardboard blocking the radiator. That murdered box keeps Coomer warm on long drives to Yakima and back. ![]() ![]() Speaking of Coomer, where's he at? It's like a "Where's Waldo" deal, but hopefully much easier... ![]() Hiding behind the trusty SE-R of course. At one point when I was taking photos here I glanced back and saw a couple people just watching me take pictures...I wonder if they thought I was cracked out or what. Picture a kid running to the camera, pressing buttons, then running back and hiding behind a car late at night. They kinda ruined my creative inspiration, so I went for a long drive before coming home. A little preview of some of the goodies lying around my room. There are many more in the garage, but it's far too cold to venture down there and take pictures. ![]() The fat fives were originally going to be bored out and thrown on the SE-R, but I've since decided to sell/trade the SE-R and get something more practical. I have no need for two sporty coupes, and we all know I can never get rid of the Celica, so the Sentra is probably going to get sold, and I'll probably get a '92-'95 Civic sedan (first choice,) '95-'98 Sentra (second choice,) or '91-'96 G20 (third choice) for my daily driver. So the fat fives may find their way onto this: Which is driven by my bro. Not like he needs a pimpin' car to get the ladies or anything, but I'm trying to get him to get some springs and then maybe we'll throw the fat fives on his Civic. In the summer he may get a front lip and paint the sideskirts as well. Or I might sell them locally, or keep them for a future car, or sell them with the SE-R, who knows... Onto more important things, the Celi is pretty torn apart and is awaiting that AE111 ECU if I can ever get the garage warm enough to work in it. Tomorrow I might try finding a wood stove so I can hook it up to the existing chimney and get some heat down there. The brake lines are for the Celica as well, and the cluster may go into the SE-R just to change things up, or I may just sell it to one of the SR20Forum guys. It's late and I'm getting tired, so I'll quit boring you all with my random story and go to bed. ![]()
