If i advance the timing on my 7afe will it interfere with the computer, my dad said that the newer cars are trickier because if you advance the timing it confuses the computer er something along those lines. Can i just advance the timing or am I in for more work?

I've got a 96 with a 7afe and there is no way to adjust the timing it looks like mine is computer controlled. If you can adjust yours it shouldn't do anything to the computer but you won't get much out of the 7afe by advancing the timing.
