Hi
I brought some white instrument gauges for my speedo/rev counter am going to give a mate the instrument cluster to put them in. But i was wondering if there are any negative effects on the car from not having the instrument pannel connected, as i really need my car for work but want the gauges put in NOW ![]() e.g. the ecu not getting all the right measuements or the altinator not charging the battery (i work in the country ![]() I reaslise i might get a ticket and all that but just wanna know if it'll be bad for the car Thanks This post has been edited by beno: Dec 26, 2006 - 7:53 PM |

if u try driving without the instrument cluster in place, the ecu will put the car into safe/retard mode, as it relies on a pulse from the clocks to tell it the rpm and speed that u are travelling at, if the rpm puls is not present the ecu will kill power, and if the speed signal is not present the ecu retards ignition timing and puts the engine into safe mode,
efectively it increases fuel consumption and slows the car right down... it will take u a total 10 mins to put the dash back together after fitting the dials so thats the route i would take... |
