You know, I've been giving this subject a lot of thought lately, and I honestly don't recommend 4A engines to anyone anymore. Ever. You see, no matter what swap you do, you're going to end up spending a good amount of money. Then after spending all that money, if you end up with an engine that only makes 160hp on a good day, how's that feel? It sucks. And then you tell people that you did an engine swap and they're like, "Cool! How much power does that make???" And you answer. "well... 160hp". "Oh."
On the other hand, you spend some more money and get yourself a 3SGTE in there, then when someone asks you how much power it makes and you can say "250hp ![]() So basically, if you're really on a budget and you really can't afford to do a big swap like the 3SGTE, then go for a 4AGE silvertop or blacktop. They're pretty easy and cheap to swap in and give a good increase in power compared to a stock 7A, if you're going to be happy with 160 or 170hp. Just skip the 4AGZE, but the time you get that done you're about $1500 off from the 3SGTE, and for the extra power it's worth every penny. But if you want the real thing, go 3SGTE. ESPECIALLY in a Celica, where the swap has been documented dozens of times. -Doc This post has been edited by Dr_Tweak: Dec 28, 2006 - 6:07 PM -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |
