Ya so I'm running 3" turbo back.. with a flowmaster 50 series muff.. over axle .. 3" cat.

Too loud.. I mean just idling on the street infront of my house and my front door vibrates.. you can hear the exhaust from anywhere in the house.. even the back of the basement.. it's not ricey at all.. it's just really really deep grumbling sound... I'd like to cut the idle noise down by atleast a third.. but not restrict exhaust flow.

3" in/out glass pack... Think this will tone the decibles down or what?

Should I place it close to the engine as possible or close to the muffler as possible?

If you want your exhaust to be quiet and want a good exhaust flow without restrictions, there is no way that it is going to happen. I have 3 magnaflow straight flow mufflers, and it is still super loud. Sometimes, you have to sacrifice a hp or 2 to have a quieter car.

FYI, glasspack mufflers make our cars sound like trucks on steroids.
