does the alternator charge the battery at idle? i need a high output alternater, but the ones ive found are 200-300 price range. im looking for something cheaper and was thinking about using a turbo timer to charge the battery for me. anyone know of a dirt cheap turbo timer or do it yourself instructions, just need the car to run for a couple minutes after i get out.
was kicking around the idea of a relay and capacitor to keep the ignition on, but im not sure how to wire the ignition to stay on without the key This post has been edited by Stu37363: Feb 4, 2007 - 12:03 PM |

Hope your finding the correct solution for your situation stu37363 yeah, im still thinking of cheaper solutions for now, my dad is an electrical engineer, and hes going to help me design something (he said i should just get a new alternator and battery too, but i dont have the money yet). going to run some tests to see if the alt even charges enough at idle to bother doing this. if it doesnt do what i want i may still have some 5 dollar turbo timer design for you guys on a budget. 6g, how much was it to get the alt rewound for higher output?
