does the alternator charge the battery at idle? i need a high output alternater, but the ones ive found are 200-300 price range. im looking for something cheaper and was thinking about using a turbo timer to charge the battery for me. anyone know of a dirt cheap turbo timer or do it yourself instructions, just need the car to run for a couple minutes after i get out.
was kicking around the idea of a relay and capacitor to keep the ignition on, but im not sure how to wire the ignition to stay on without the key This post has been edited by Stu37363: Feb 4, 2007 - 12:03 PM |

QUOTE(celicast3sgte @ Feb 7, 2007 - 1:42 AM) wow you guys really force your opinions on people... hes said his alt works fine, but yet you insist he replace it. I may be wrong but i just wanted to point that out. Hope your finding the correct solution for your situation stu37363 because its pretty clear that his charging system or battery has an issue. a turbo timer is not going to help this in any way. Stu37363, take your alt off the car, and take it to a local car parts store. they can bench test it for free and tell you if it works. you can also do the same thing with your battery. the store can place a load on the battery and measure the amps its putting out, so its better then any multimeter test. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
