I have had awful experaince with fedora linux. Has anyone else on here used it? I thought windows sucked and I got the impression that linux would be awsome. I got red hat off my friend and it installed nicly but it would not work with my internet and on the forums for it it said to ugrade to fedora would be easiest fix. Well i got it downloaded and installed and wow my internet worked perfect with it with no adjustment but almost nothing else worked. After wasteing about a week of evenings trying to fix everything i gave up and came to the point that windows, though flawed, is much better. I mean if you wanted to relearn almost everything you know about computers then hey go for it but i dont want to have to dedicate my life to learning how to give all these text commands and stuff in the terminal...i thought it fedora was saposed to have a graphical interface but you still need to do all this crap in the terminal and in my opinion windows isnt so bad you can at least work around most of its flaws...not trying to make anyone mad and please dont call me a idoit for not taking the time to learn it...im sure its a good operating system if you spent 3 months trying to figure out everything...but for example tyring to figure out how to install firefox 2 was such a pain whats the point? And it actaully took longer to load than windows...and wasnt nothing speacial. Dont mean to rant im just mad i wasted so much time downloading it then burning 5 disks and spending a week to try to get everything to work...

Thanx but i already gave up on linux...it booted in a graphics mode but when i need help with something i would seek help from the internet and most people said to use the terminal...but it seemed like there was always many differnt ways to do everything...heres one problem i had i wanted it to boot windows by default and on some forums its aid to type in some stuff and a menu would come up. (this was on terminal). I made sure i was root and all that and it still said access denied or something along that lines. So i eventually figured out to go to computer>storage (or something) >boot>grub>grub.conf .Then it allowed me to the menu and it all went fine. There was one problem solved. I wanted to install firefox 2 and read to use yum to do this. It said that add/remove sofware was grahical yum and when i went to open that it started then it said andother program was using it...how could i find out what that program was and close it down?
thanks for any help i think i still may have gave up on it early but ive just spent so much time on it |
