I'm assuming you've got a coupe or convertible because you're saying trunk, so what I did was take off the black plastic peice that has the hole in it for the trunk latch. It just pulls off with some force. Then, you can take off that back carpeted plastic panel by twisting off the round clip things. After that's off, you should see the bare metal of the trunk. Now, you need to put some sort of sound deadener on there. I used a combination of RAAMmat60 and Peel and Seal. They're both nearly identical to Dynamat Extreme, except they both cost a whole lot less and aren't stamped with the Dynamat logo. You can find Peel and Seal at your local home improvement store such as Lowe's probably. That's where I found mine. For that stuff, you just clean off the bare metal with some rubbing alcohol, and then heat up the pieces of sound deadener with a hair dryer or heat gun, and then stick them on there. Be sure to get out all of the bubbles so that it sticks well.
I've got 4-5 layers on my trunk lid, and two on the floor and sidewalls of my trunk, and three on the back of the trunk. I also have lots and lots of layers around the rear deck area, and a couple layers in the doors. It has helped a lot, and you can barely hear my system outside my car now, which is what I want. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...
