I am receiving conflicting information in regards to bringing a celi form canada.
On one hand there are najillion rules to follow as well as epa laws etc etc. On other side its a quick crossing border swapping cars and driving back to homeland. In my case it would be an option of meeting at niagra falls location on US side. So here is the question .. what am I missing. As per allowable vehicles 94 celica is not mentioned at all.. and its not a gt-4 so it should meet standarts.. but there is not enough information that says.. ok if you want to import a celica.. just like one sold in usa.. you need to do...... or you should be fine just registering it... as per New Jersey DOT it says all I have to do is provide bill of sale and proof of insurance. as per importation rules and regulations I have to get consent from toyota manufacture in california, get car inspected for alien species, meet and pass epa regulations etc etc. Anyone here done anything like this? -------------------- Captain Pessimist

Believe it or not I have been on all those sites and other sites as well.
Each and every site has its information based on the fact that your car will be arriving by ship or plane and will be unloaded at customs. In my case we plan ot drive the vehicle over the border as a normal tourist would but then not bringing that vehicle back. -------------------- Captain Pessimist

I was thinking of trying something like that when I brought mine up from the states, I dont remember exactly what it was but had sometihng to do with the paperwork. If you just drive it across you dont get enough paperwork/enough signatures/pay the proper fees...something along those lines. Then again, I have no clue what you need/dont need to register a car in the states. |
