I was driving my dads solara and it has the luxury of messing with the stereo with buttons on the steering wheel like a lotta newer cars have. Is it possible to get a steering wheel like that in a Solara or another car that has those buttons and wiring it up in our car?

im not looking to do it. just wondering if its possible?

I believe it is possible but can offer no proof to support my beliefs. I posted a thread a while back discussing this.

Upon visual inspection, it looks like the audio controls from a 4-spoke steering wheel of an LS430 from 2003 or earlier might fit the stock 4-spoke Celica steering wheel but I have yet to find one in black or ash grey. Several Lexus' from mid to late 90's had bolt-on audio controls and many have a very similar or identical shape to the Celica 4-spoke wheel.

It is hard to work out without access to the EPC and even then I understand it is difficult as Toyota give the same part different part numbers for different cars. What I have determined is that the parts are typically called "steering pad switch" and start 84244 or 45186 for the right-hand-side switch and 84247 or 45187 for the left-hand-side switch. The same prefixes are used for the blanking plastic when the switch isn't fitted (eg 84244-35010 is a plastic trim piece for the right-hand-side of a toyota 4runner steering wheel, 84244-35030 is the switch assembly). So a first step for someone with access to the EPC might be to find the part numbers of the side plastic trim pieces on the 4-spoke Celica steering wheel.

Update: RHS trim is 45186-20060-C0
