Would it be louder if i get two 600wrms 12" subs, or one big 15" 1000wrms sub... They'll be run at 2ohms...
Im thinking Audiobahn for the 12"s, and Kicker for the big 15"... Ive already got two 600.1 JBL amps (580wrms @ 2ohms), but am waiting for feedback before I go and get my sub or subs... |

As has been said, there are a lot of factors that will influence the actual volume of two different subs.
All things equal, the two 12's have more surface area, and therefore should move more air. I'm not totally clear on your powering intentions. It looks like you are loooking to run either 2 amps to 2 12" subs, or one amp to one 15" sub, correct? If that is the case, then there is a good chance that the extra power combined with the surface area difference will cause the setup with 2 12's to have more volume. Is that power rating bridged mono? Otherwise, in real life, we need to consider - efficiency of the subs, also factoring in the division of power - box size and type, note that we aren't necessarily talking about the same size box for each setup, it would be better to compare box size per given frequency response and levels. - things like efficiency of the subs and excursion... Based on your post, I'm guessing you could care less about sound quality. If you want loud, then your best bet, from the options listed (in a general sense, see points above) would be to run each amp bridged mono, each feeding their own 12" sub, in a vented enclosure, facing the back of the car. -------------------- The poster is not bound by any accuracy, stated or implied, of the previous post. Any similarities to actual people, fictional or real, may or may not be a coincidence.
