So, im gonna be completed my college program in about 2 years time, and I'm wanting to go work abroad for a year or 2. My girl friend is also planning on coming along too to finish her Masters Degree. She has some relatives of hers who live about 20 minutes out side of Aukland. Any ways, ive been doing some research on the lifestyle and claiming residence in new Zealand. Now heres where the questions come in. My girl friend and i are most likely going to be married and will be living together for at least 2 years time before we go and she also has her British citizenship because she was a direct decendant of british citizen. Since she has her british citizenship and New Zealand is part of the British Common Wealth, would she gain entry/have ability to work in NZ? Also, by the time i come over there I will be a class A liscenced autmotive mechanic in canada, would this certifcation transfer? Is there any demand for mechanics in NZ, mainly the Aukland area?? Would I be able to apply for a working Visa or citizenship because of this too? We would b staying for roughly 1.5 years at minimum but from every thing we have read and seen about NZ, we will probably stay longer. Also, are there any importing laws regarding importing vechiles from japan? does any thing have to be changed over to fit NZ standards?? Also would there be any problems importing vehicles from canada being left hand drive? we use the metric system aswell. Is insurance there very high for automobiles??

If any one can help me, that would be great. Ive been trying to figure alot of this out on the internet, but your governments site is very confusing.
