So I am starting to compile many things in the Celica that use my cigarette lighter (Ipod, cell phone, etc.) and so I started looking for a multi-outlet cigarette thing to use instead. Does anyone have one of these? My thoughts were to mount it inside the center console next to the shifter (probably velcro it to the inside wall there)and then cut off the plug and splice it into the back of the factory cigarette lighter for power. My question is, do you think my placement idea might cause it to overheat and fail?

I recently wired in 3 cylinder type ones to the factory cigarette lighter. It worked fine but every couple of days it would blow the fuse if 2 or more thing were plugged in at once. Pretty annoying cause that's your radio and clock sometimes power as well [I wouldn't lose the settings they just wouldn't work until I replaced the fuse]. I eventually ran the power to the no1 fuse box to the heated seats fuse as I don't have them and all works well now. Maybe to avoid this you should just wire it to the heated seats fuse in the first place. It wasn't wired wrong cause I didn't rewire them I just moved the sorce of power. I guess it was just to much amps being drawn for that little 15amp fuse for radio/cig.
