here is a pic of a toyota 5sfe timing belt with ~100k on it..it came outta itchyb's old 5sfe.
this is the reason toyota recommends doing the timing belt every 60k. good stuff, heh heh..

well we got mine out this past weekend, the belt didn't break but there were some teeth missing
pics of the outside of the belt and the inside of the belt where 11 teeth were missing - these "missing" teeth were at one time around the crank, but after 12 years and 140K miles, they were just sheered off. The crank would spin and not spin the belt and that = no go. once again, 12 years, 140K miles. I was lucky because I was about 5 min away from my house and was able to have the car towed there for nothing and I happen to have some great friends to get this replaced. -------------------- |
