ok so check this out
iif i were to hook up a 3000 watt mono amp max to a 600 watt sub *its 2 subs* would it damage the subs if i had the gain set at like 25 percent? and would i have to change the wire running from the battery to the amp cause right now i think im using 16 gague wire? is it a must if im not going to have the amp at full blast? -------------------- Is this good enuff 4 ya? :D

I still think if you plan to run a 3000 watt amp essentially turned down, then why pay the extra for such a big amp? Why not get like a 1200 watt mono or something for less money and run it like it should be run? Are you getting the big amp for a possible upgrade in the future? Is it just for show? More details!
Also consider that to get a 3db gain (twice as loud) with your system, the rule of thumb is double. Double your power, twice as loud. Double your surface area (subs), twice as loud. If you run 2 10's on a 200 watt amp (100 watts each) compared to one sub running 200 watts, they should sound roughly the same, but the Kicker L7's are crazy loud subs. A square 10" i think has close to the same surface area as a round 12" (or so I read). This post has been edited by Sinyk: May 2, 2007 - 1:48 PM -------------------- |
