I went over today to help take the tranny off to change the clutch in the Elise. put it in gear and let the clutch out and absolutely nothing happened. 36k miles and this is the second time the clutch has gone out, the first time they sent it to Lotus and it cost them $5,000 and took a week. they figured it would be cheaper to do it in house this time, only thing is none of them there have any experience with it which is why they asked me to come help when they heard I knew a few things about Toyotas. I told them I knew nothing about that engine or the particulars of taking apart a Lotus either but I offered to help anyway (since I'll be buying that car from them one day anyway ) It actually wasn't hard at all and they were very grateful since the mechanic said he'd still be there trying to figure it out and probably would have broken a bunch of things if I wasn't there... so they owe me (first dibs and a good price on it when they're ready to get rid of it )
they aren't able to get hold of a clutch until Tues... so it'll just stay like this for a while we had to take all the suspension components out of the way on the drivers side one side was alright... other side was completely gone... had to get a picture of my car in there haha -------------------- |
