My OEM radio has the 92 - 99 amplified system harness. Thinking i was doing all right, i bought a 6 disc changer, but payed no attention to the pin out of it. This new readio has the 2000 - up harness. See pics below.
![]() I can make the conections with the following kits of Metra: ![]() which look like this: My current one ![]() The new one ![]() However i still have questions>>>>> If you see the picture of the new deck: what is a shield ground. I need to connect this without problems.... Also my old deck has 1 power antenna, the new one has 3 power antennas, what do i do with the rest. The rest i can pretty go by colors..... Thanks in advance... This post has been edited by njccmd2002: May 6, 2007 - 8:58 AM -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... Well, after a few weeks of waiting to get my cd repaired, im here, ready to show off my new radio. Thanks to everybody (especially lovo). Hope this inspires another soul. Why do this? Well of the advantages,
1. Have 6 original cd inside at a time, (saves time rather than burning into mp3. 2. Stock Look. (im Picky) 3. Im using my original amp (6th generation) 4. I can use a second amp for subs (once i boy a new battery) 5. Using a special adaptor from PIE, I can hook up an IPOD, MP3, or XM radio, and still be OEM 6. More powerful unit, than original. Well I bought the unit from ebay, it came damaged, but it has been repaired. One thing i found is be careful with the unit year, for a perfect fit it has to be a 2002 or older model, with no sides, meaning the metal flushes with the plastic. Otherwise some serious mods need to be done to the bezel. Also our amp is analog. Newer radios use a digital amp. And then you will have to find the space for the amp. I went for safe, rather than sorry. My next mod to this radio will be blue buttons. Tools I used. 1. Solder Tool 2. Solder wire 3. Shrink cables. 4. Wiring guide. 5. 1 OEM harness and 1 aftermarket Factory Harness. 6. RCA outputs that are conected to the rear input speaker wires. 7. 6 hours of time to individually solder, shrink, pull my hairs and drink soda. Tips. Solder all three power antennas, hook the shield ground with ground together. I left the Ilum(-) alone.... well I dont want to bother anyone else, here it is. a little before look: ![]() After all this: (with Flash) ![]() without flash (Night mode) ![]() Now, dont hate me cause you aint me. Im off to enjoy. Sayonara amigos. -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I hardly log in anymore, last login Today Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOL
