So, my tags expired back on the 3rd and since my car is a 94 and it needs e-testing every 2 years and this year being an odd year means i need to get my car e-tested. I went out and bought a 10 day temp permit that expires today. Crap. So i tried once a few weeks ago, my car blew fine on HC and CO but blew stupidly high on NOx. My NOx is suppost to be at 504PPM, i blew a 1265PPM my first time. My second time i blew a 1435PPM. SUCKS! any ways, so i also was gettin my check engine light coming on saying that it was my EGR system. So i put a new EGR valve on, went for an e-test again...failed..again. Same thing...NOx. Hense the 1435PPM. Any ways, i noticed that my check engine light was still on and it was still EGR code. So i decided to do a full test of my EGR system according to All-Data online. So first thing it says to do is pull the Vacuum modual's cap off and clean the filter. So i pull the cap off, my filter was hard as a rock because it had dirt baked on. So i bought a new vacuum modual on the weekend, poped it in, and wow. Engine ran soooo much better. So i figured it helped alot. So i was gonna go for an e-test today after class and talked to one of my teachers who owns a shop to see if they do e-testing at his shop to see if i could get one under the tabel. Any ways, he told me i should de-carbonize my engine. So my friend came over and brought his Silverado to do the same thing on it. We went through a can and a half of Carb cleaner. Had the throttle open about 1/3 open and sprayed about 3/4 of a can of carb cleaner in untill it choked it self out. Then i let it sit for half an hour to let it break all the carbon up. Started the car up...blew tons of white smoke out for the first like 3 seconds, then stopped. Figured it didnt set in enough. So i let my car sit for another 10 minutes started it up again.and wow..my neighbours dont like me any more..lol. Tons of smoke blowing out the rear. Any ways, cars running alot smoother. So im gonna go take my car for the e-test tomorrow, gonna retard my timing as much as i can. Im pretty much gonna down tune it alot untill it barely has enough power to drag its self onto the rollers.lol. Any ways, hope that it passes..i need to get my tags re-newed soon. Any one else have any hints/tricks that might help?

so im back from trying to pass again..and guess what? failed..what a supprise. Any ways, once again NOx was high and for some reason my CO was high at idel this time. HCs are stupid low, CO was low at running speed, and NOx was even higher *2056PPM*. So i dunno what the hell is happening. I changed my vacuum modual, i changed my EGR valve, yet im still gettin EGR code coming up AGAIN!. Any ways, here in Ontario we have a conditional pass, aka you spend $450 or more on repairs and parts, you pass, but you need a lisenced tech to install them. So i got the parts and installed them my self, but im gonna get one of my teachers to sign off on the conditional pass form. And if that doesnt work im gonna go out and see if i can get a under the tabel pass. I know like 6 or 7 ppl back in toronto who can do it for me, but my problem is im 3.5 hours away. But apparently i can get one in the next town over if i get my friend to come with me. So hopefully i can get it passed by friday cuz i have to drive home on friday night. Also my car is running pretty much stochiometeric, might be a bit ritch. When i go next time if i got for a legit one, im gonna take the timing down to the point where its really really low untill it can barely crawl onto the dyno.
