My smog is due soon in california but I would like to pass with out paying some dude extra. I'd like to do some more upgrades before the two year deal. Couple questions,
If i had the stock intake, one cat removed replaced with strait pipe, and one high flow cat you guys think i could pass cali smog (visual test) legally? Is true you can not pass smog with a header that is not carb legal? -------------------- |

The plan is to take out both cats strait though pipe, header, and a pully after smog and suspention are finished. I figure like 110 at the wheels and have a fun little car.

QUOTE(SpoonR530 @ May 10, 2007 - 7:58 PM) The plan is to take out both cats strait though pipe, header, and a pully after smog and suspention are finished. I figure like 110 at the wheels and have a fun little car. you do realize your basing your horsepower gain theory back in 1975 when the cat was introduce. Back in the day cars ran very dirty and clogged up the catalytic converters. Therefore you gain horsepower from removing the catalytic converter. BUT our celica;s are fuel injected that run much cleaner. Your catalytic converter is probably not clogged and your will not gain much horsepower. The horsepower gain will probably equal to a good tune up job. such as new distributor cap and rotor, oil change with synthetic oil, and a new air filter. |
