Hello,

newbie Celica owner here.... (but long time Toyota owner)

We just got a '95 ST liftback with the black/gray cloth interior and seats. I just bought black leather seats (complete and nice shape) locally, but I am now thinking that there was also a tan leather option. Was there? And, was there such thing as power seats and heated seats in the 6G?

My '95 came with a '94 owners manual (someone crossed out the '94 and wrote '95 in black marker, like it helped or something). The '94 manual doesn't make any reference to different seat controls/options for different styles of seats, so I'm kinda thinking there's either cloth or leather and that's it.

I put a "wanted" ad in the classifieds, but I'm not real sure what my chances are for finding tan leather.

regarding the heated seat option, check out the link posted by BloodyStupidDavey. i installed the head seat kit in mine and it works great so far! i'd rather have it than have heater in my car lol.. anyway, it's not necessary to remove the seat covers, just slide them in.
the back support is a cinch, but the bottom seat will take a while.

Thanks--I did. I think that's the same kit I referred to seeing on Ebay with the 3 levels of heating. I haven't taken a close look at the new black leather seats I just picked up (and haven't installed yet), but it would be nice if I don't have to worry about pulling hog rings apart to get the seat covers off. I've done it before and it is a bit of a pain.

I think my plan right now is to see if anyone wants to trade for tan leather before I install these black leather seats, then put the heating elements in whichever seats I end up keeping. The black leather is certainly nice, but I am an odd ball and for some reason like the tan better. Long term I'd probably replace the black carpet with tan, or get tan floor mats, and get tan seats and install the heating elements off Ebay. I'm surpised there's no lumbar or kidney wing adjustment in the celicas, and not even a tilting headrest! frown.gif

I thought all Celicas had tilting headrests. Certainly all the UK and JDM ones I've ever tried to tilt did. It is quite stiff though, so perhaps you are being too gentle?

As for lumbar, the UK models have have a second wheel on the drivers' seat to adjust the rake of the seat base. Few non-luxuary cars had proper lumbar support in 1994.

I have been wondering whether the designers allowed for the possibility of motorizing the seat adjustments on the Celica given that the Supra and 5th Gen had options for motorized seats. I did toy with the idea of getting a supra seat and attempting to barstardize the mechanics into the Celica seat but never executed the plan.

Without wanting to steal the thread, has anyone replaced their seats and actually ended up with a seat that sits lower than the stock? Every story I've read, the result was a higher ride height including with the Toyota option Ricardo seats.

I don't think either the original cloth seats or the new leather seats have tilting head rests. I'm very used to having this option in all my Toyotas and was surprised when the celica headrests didn't tilt. I'll try again just to make sure. Maybe I just got a very stripped down ST. Either way, it will soon have leather, and heated seats. I may even put a sunroof in if I feel daring enough. It's been a while since I've installed a sunroof though....
