Hello,
I have a 4-spoke steering wheel and am trying to fit the cruise control lever to it. Unfortunately, it would appear that there is a parts difference between the 4-spoke with and without cruise control lever. I don't know what the part is or what it does but do have some pictures. It appears to be a damper for the airbag. It is a steel plate that is held in place with the large steering wheel nut and a small bolt and washer. Onto the steel plate is grafted two rubber bushes, the other end of the bushes are grafted onto lump of cast iron. The steering wheel with the damper removed: And with the damper in place: You can't really make out the steel bracket in the second shot - I'll try to take some more pictures when my camera batteries are recharged. The damper fouls the placement of the cruise lever - so there must be a slightly different version of the damper for cars with the cruise lever fitted. Can anyone tell me the Toyota name and part number for this part? Or ideally, the equivalent part when cruise control is fitted. QUOTE(malpaso @ Jun 9, 2007 - 8:37 PM) I don't know if I understand right but... you are looking for place where to mount cruise control switch right? Would this help? (ignore that note about horn ) Thanks for the pic. I know where to mount the cruise control switch. But if you look at your pic, then my second pic - do you see that lump of iron on my second pic? The bracket for that lump of iron fouls the screw hole and part of the switch for the cruise control. The only way I could mount the cruise control switch would be to remove and throw away that lump of iron and its mounting bracket. But I am sure there is a good reason for having that lump of iron there and that throwing it away would not be a good idea. It would appear that it stops the airbag moving around too much and makes sure it detonates correctly - but that is just a guess. What I could really do with is an exploded diagram of the 4-spoke steering wheel with and without cruise control.
