i'm shopping for a sportbike now guys, for a summer ride. Something in a 600cc - preferably an older model (affordable) ... i dont mind the bike being carb'd, just as long as it has relatively low miles and has been taken care of. Any brand/model recomendations - i really like the looks of a Ninja zx-6 w/ the ram air...maybe a CBR ... R6 ? any personal opinions? maybe you know some1 that has a nice bike for sale? help me out here P.S. - my budget is around 3k give or take a couple hundred bucks

I personally am a HUGE fan of Yamaha bikes so i would start on either the YZF600 or R6. The biggest difference you will see between those two bikes is the YZF doesn't have as good of a suspension set up as the R6 so your ride will be a little more rough. You will also have a more balanced power ratio through all gears and all rpm's on the YZF. Look wise the R6 is by far better looking than the YZF. However...The GSXR600 and Suzuki in general make phenomenal bikes, the parts are cheap and easy to find and they are very rider friendly (think street bikes for dummy's). Honda's bikes, to me at least, are a bunch of garbage much like the cars. In thier struggle to keep up in a market where they are rapidly falling behind the competion. They cut some weight off the bike but they also tweaked the suspension so that it is a rougher ride for you which is never any good. I gotta say to get the most bike and the best beginner bike for your buck go with an 01-03 R6 or GSXR600.
I personally am looking forward to the day I can get my R1...mmmmm, sex on two wheels. |
