I'm about to change the timing belt, water pump, pully on the celica.

It has got me thinking, is it worth it to put genuine toyota parts in there?

I mean, how much longer is the old 7afe gonna last before the valve seals leak and i will be pulling off the head anyways. I've given up on modify the celica, and ditching plans to turbo the 7afe. So this engine will not be under the heat and stress modified engines face.

for a 7afe or a 5sfe, go cheapest brand you can find

for a 3sgte, use toyota (i use all oem on my car, even though im a firm believer that other brands will work, i just do it for ****s and giggles)

thats just silly.

OEM parts FTW.
especially when it comes to engine parts.

why is it silly? whats silly is kids spending 80$ on oem plug wires for their 7afe or 5sfe.

for the 3sgte there are certain things that should be oem, i understand the 3sgte is very sensitive to crappy ignition components.

toyota oem parts are made by who, denso? and i believe each brand has a different manufacturer of their "oem" parts.

now what happens when a company like denso makes a non oem distributor cap for a GM vehicle or something, now thats not considered oem for GM but for toyota it would be.

see what i mean? if you are careful about your choice selection at an auto parts store you will be fine, obviously inspect the part, but a lot of the time they are just re manufactured oem parts anyway, what do you think they do with your oem toyota core smile.gif
