I was there...me and my friend left just about an hour before the burnout exhibition started, but we had a friend that stayed to watch it - he sayed the black marks where the car was fishtailing came 2ft. from where he was standing, and the car went into the crowd about 6 feet out from where he was...if i would have stayed - my friend and I would have been right there beside him. He also sayed he saw a leg in the street afterwards... horrible stuff

QUOTE(celi_gt_racer @ Jun 18, 2007 - 11:19 AM) I was there...me and my friend left just about an hour before the burnout exhibition started, but we had a friend that stayed to watch it - he sayed the black marks where the car was fishtailing came 2ft. from where he was standing, and the car went into the crowd about 6 feet out from where he was...if i would have stayed - my friend and I would have been right there beside him. He also sayed he saw a leg in the street afterwards... horrible stuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvjHEgo8I10...ted&search= Clearly this is a very sad day for many, horribly tragic for some. I am not wishing to minimize the suffering of the injured or deceased (and their friends and families) or point the finger of blame at the contestants, spectators of event organizers. I was curious about the safety precautions taken. Most drag events use double or triple metal guard rails along the side of the strip. Some use concrete barricades to contain the vehicles within the raceway. Others I have seen use a variety of less safe means to contain the vehicles.
