On my way home from work I noticed white smoke coming from under my hood. I pulled over and saw my temp gauge was pegged! Heres what I found.

My Webpage

Anyone have any suggestions where I can get either a good oem replacement or aftermarket for better cooling for my 3sgte. I have a 95 celica gt swapped 3sgte. Thanks

thats not good. ouch, what caused it in the first place?
they normally dont just blow up lol.

old radiator, poor cooling from the stock hood/bumper, and 90F+ weather would be my guess.

Yea. The rad. had 190,000 miles. It was hot and I was running the s**t out of it. The funny thing is I popped the hood just before I left work and all the fluids were fine. Oh well. Hopefully I didnt pop a head gasket when it overheated kindasad.gif

There's a chance it is the other way around... watch out. If the head gasket blows to the water jacket, it can overpressurize the cooling system (and overwhelm the radiator cap) and blow the radiator like that. A buddy's rally car had that happen. He replaced the radiator and it kept overheating (blowing exhaust into the cooling system).

Be careful after putting in the new radiator, though I 100% endorse the Koyo radiator idea. My Subaru friends swear by them. I'm tempted to get one for my Camry already (I already have an ST205 radiator in there, but the top plastic is starting to look old).
