Hello, I was just wondering about a sound coming from a BRAND NEWLY INSTALLED BY A TOYOTA TECH. timing belt on my 94 gt 5s-fe engine. I just had it replaced and it makes a whining sound when revved. Sounds a little like a whislte/whine like a supercharger would make. I asked the tech and he said it was normal since it was new. I was just wondering if maybe the belt was rubbing on timing cover, or if maybe is normal, when revved to about 3k plus, its VERY noticable. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks

If you over torque pulleys or tensioner bearings bolts , they will make noise similar to bad axle bearing. If drive belts are to tide they also will make noise. I worker for toyota dealership and none of the tech that I saw doing t/belt used torque wrench to torque to right specs. Another thing is the washer between crank pulley under plastic cover can be reversed and will drag on the plastic. When I do t/belt I always change all parts seals, tensioner with new spring, drive pulleys, water pump and thermostat.
